1 to 5 june 2026 – Introductory Course On X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy

University of Montpellier, 1–5 June 2026

Professor Jean-Louis Bantignies (Researcher at L2C) and Professor Christophe Den Auwer (Université Côte d’Azur) organise the Introductory Course on X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy, which will take place in the Polytech lecture theatre on the Triolet Campus of the University of Montpellier from 1 to 5 June 2026. This course is of interest for beginners in the field as well for persons who wish to refresh their knowledge.

The five-day program aims to teach the theoretical and methodological foundations of X-ray absorption as a method for determining local structural order in materials.

By the end of the course, participants will have acquired the theoretical basis of SAX and will be able to independently carry out the analysis of EXAFS and XANES spectra. The session is open to early-career researchers, engineers, and PhD students in chemistry, physics, and biology, working in fields as diverse as materials science, catalysis, thin films, and biochemistry…
