We show, by using a multiple-scale approach, that if the rods constituting the crystal have Mie resonances at large enough wavelengths, the crystal can be characterized by an effective permeability exhibiting anomalous dispersion. The theoretical results are checked numerically for periodic and random photonic crystals. |
